Teleport 13 Newsletter
Hello Teleport Community,
It’s been a couple of months since the last newsletter, and here we bring you the May 2023 edition. We’ve switched from a bi-weekly to a monthly newsletter, which we’ll be sending around the 15th of every month. This will give us a chance to pack in a summary of all events and product releases. Want to keep up-to-date in real time? Just join our community Slack channels #announcements and #events so you don’t miss a thing.
Teleport 13 updates
This week we shipped Teleport 13. The Teleport team ships new major releases every 3 months, and we’ve heard that our velocity can be hard to keep up with. This is why I’m excited to announce the introduction of automatic upgrades for agents.
Here are some more key highlights:
General Teleport updates:
- Automatic upgrades
- ‘No-code’ AWS onboarding
- Light theme, device listing and upgraded enrollment catalog.
- TLS routing through ALB for Server Access and Kubernetes Access (Preview)
- Universal binaries, including Terraform Provider for ARM.
Server Access:
- “Agentless support’ via Improved OpenSSH support with resource listing and easier joining via the new
teleport join openssh
command.
Kubernetes Access:
- Performance improvements, including new server-side tracing so we can better support and analyze issues for our biggest customers.
Applications:
- Protecting Okta Applications and Groups with Teleport. This feature lets teams easily import Okta apps and share applications and groups using Teleport Access requests. We covered some of these in the recent webinar, Quickly Onboard Engineers and Protect Infrastructure with Teleport as a SAML and IDP.
Database Access:
- AWS OpenSearch support for Database Access is now in preview.
- Oracle DB Support, released with 12.2.1, still deserves an honorable mention for Teleport 13.
Windows:
- Export Windows Sessions Recordings: Teleport 13 now allows you to export your Windows Desktop session recordings to video format for offline playback. This is made possible with the new
tsh recordings export
command.
Plus much more: The above covers a small selection of the additions for the release. Check out our blog post and release notes for a more comprehensive features overview. Including a new OIDC AWS set up to quickly enroll all of your AWS Resources.
