Teleport pricing is usage-based, for the products licensed within the Teleport Infrastructure Identity Platform. We’ll need to get in touch to give you accurate pricing.

See the FAQ below for more info about licensing Teleport.

How is Teleport licensed?

Teleport is licensed based on monthly usage. The following are the billing metrics used:

  • Monthly Active User (MAU): These are human users of Teleport.
  • Machine/Workload Identity (MWI): These are machine & workload users in Teleport.
  • Teleport Protected Resources (TPR): These are protected infrastructure assets.

The billing metrics used for the products in Teleport Infrastructure Identity Platform are as follows:

  • Teleport Zero Trust Access: MAUs, TPRs
  • Teleport Machine & Workload Identity: MWIs
  • Teleport Identity Governance: MAUs
  • Teleport Identity Security: TPRs

For more information on the billing metrics definition and calculation methodology, please view our pricing guide or visit our documentation here.

What are my deployment options, and does deployment type affect pricing?

Teleport can be deployed as:

  • Cloud
  • On-premises
  • On-premises FIPS
  • Multi-region high availability
  • Hybrid modes
  • Edge

Deployment methods do not affect billing metrics, with the exception of multi-region high availability. Self-hosted deployment and multi-region high availability deployment each have minimum contract value requirements.

What is the difference between Teleport Enterprise Edition and Teleport Community Edition?

Teleport Enterprise Edition is available commercially for companies of all sizes.

Teleport Community Edition is an open-source version of Teleport that is available, free of charge, to companies with less than 100 employees and less than US $10 million in revenue.

Not all of the features of Teleport Enterprise Edition are available in the Community Edition. The difference in features between the two editions can be found here.
