Deploy Teleport Agent

Options for deploying Teleport agents

The simplest way to install an agent on Linux is through your Teleport cluster’s web interface, which generates a joining script and automates these steps.

1. Install Teleport on Linux

Copy and paste a single command to install Teleport on Linux. The script will download and install Teleport on any Linux machine.

curl "https://
/scripts/install.sh" | sudo bash

2. Configure Teleport

Once installed, you will need to configure the Teleport agent to connect to a Teleport Cluster. The Teleport Agent can provide multiple services, both to access the host and to proxy app, db and Kubernetes sessions. Learn more about how to configure Teleport.

To configure the agent for SSH access, first log in to your Teleport cluster and run the following to generate a join token. You’ll need this token for the next step.

tctl tokens add --type=node --format=text

See the Teleport docs to configure agents for:

Switching back to the host you are deploying to agent on, run the following command to generate a configuration file for SSH access.

teleport node configure \ --output=file \ --token=<token-generated-above>\ --proxy=your.proxy.address:443

3. Start Teleport

sudo systemctl teleport enable --now
